2016 Troughs Adding Colour

Thanks to a grant from Redditch Borough Council, the Astwood Bank in Bloom team recently took delivery of 15 wooden troughs that had been made by local Charity Where Next?

The troughs will shortly be distributed around Astwood Bank and placed under street signs as part of the Bloom initiative, but also in time for Astwood Bank Open Gardens which is taking place the weekend of June 11th and 12th.

Colin Bates, chair of Astwood Bank in Bloom commented that he was “delighted to receive the grant from the Council which enabled the Bloom group to further develop their relationship with Where Next. The troughs really are of an excellent quality, and with the plants from our partners Botany Bay Nursery, they will help not only extend where we are able to place plants around the village, but vitally give the opportunities for many more members of our community to get introughs adding colourvolved through their ongoing maintenance.”

The grant from the Council was part of an earlier round of funding made available through the Stronger Communities grant scheme.

Jo Wood, Business Support Manager for Where Next said that “Where Next are always looking for ways in which they can be part of local communities and provide a high quality product through their skilled team. We were delighted to receive this order so that we can show off our troughs to the people of Astwood Bank and the visitors to both the Open garden and the carnival on July 9th.”
